The proposal

The wedding was about to start and tension was in the air. All of the bridesmaids rushed around, all fussing with their hair and make-up. I hadn’t taken much time on my hair, or make-up; I was beginning to think that maybe I should have. I felt inadequate. Natalie was sat by herself, whilst all of the bridesmaids rushed around her. I approached her slowly then sat.

“Cheer up, it’s your wedding”

She looked at me and gave me a weak smile “You’re right. This is my big day, I should be happy” She stopped then looked away “So why do I feel so empty?”

I didn’t know what to say “Maybe you should eat.” I said. I felt embarrassed at my stupidity. I wasn’t helping at all. She looked at me and gave a true smile

“Electra?” Natalie uttered

“Yes?” I asked. I hoped that she wasn’t going to yell at me

“Do you love Alex II?” Her stare held

“Yes” I said simply. And how else would I.

“And how do you feel when you’re around him?” She asked

“Erm…” I had to think “When he’s around me, I feel completed. And when he looks at me, I feel like I can’t stand any longer” She tilted her head in fascination “And when he looks into my eyes…” I closed my eyes and let the emotions caress my body “I forget about the past, the future, and just stare back. Captivated in love” I blushed “I bet that sounds really cheesy”

She wiped away a tear “No, it’s not cheesy. It’s beautiful. That’s just how I used to feel”
I looked at her. I didn’t know what to say. I saw somebody else inside my best friends body. This wasn’t Natalie. She stood up and breathed out.
“Almost show time” She said, slightly more joy in her voice. She looked to me “This could be you getting married to Alex II one day” She smiled at me

I wasn’t sure what to say. I liked that idea “Maybe, for now, I don’t know”
The music started and I followed her out. All eyes were on Natalie. She looked like a princess. As my best friend and her fiancé took their vows, I had time to think. Natalie seemed unsure about everything she said. But Alex’s love seemed to drift through the room.

 I looked to my Alex and grinned, he was blubbing like a baby, my little baby.

At the end of the service I walked to Natalie. She looked at me and grinned "Hey Chic!" beamed Natalie. Her smile almost swallowed her head. "Almost time to throw the bouquet!" She seemed excited, what the hell, it was her wedding day.

I merged in to the crowd of women, waiting for their chance at the bouquet. Then- she threw it:
Becks and I caught it simultaneously. Becks, unexpectedly let go.
As I grasped the flowers a small envelope fell out. On it 'Electra Danton'. I felt my heart jump. As I sliced the envelope with my nail a small bud of cotton emerged. As I pulled it out further I glimpsed what it held. I felt flushed and my legs went numb.
I pulled the ring from its soft bed, it was a silver, it had a diamond central to it, with sapphires and rubies lining the band.
In all of the excitement I hadn't noticed Alex down on one knee in front of me.

"Electra" His voice pulled me away from my trance, I looked into his eyes "I know this is soon, it has only been 4 months since we first met, but in that time I have realized- you are the only one for me" He kissed my hand and slid the ring onto my finger "And that is why I want to spend the rest of my life with you... Electra- Will you marry me?"

I put my hand over my mouth and screamed in my head " YES!" I jumped into his arms and we kissed, I held him like it was the last time we would ever touch and it seemed my love burned stronger than ever before.

Alex I ripped off Natalie's garter with his teeth. Alex II and I wolf whistled as he tugged it over the final section of her led.
Logan caught it, he approached me, but I pointed to Becks and winked. He grinned and walked toward her; he dragged it up using his teeth. We loved the way Becks acted like she didn't enjoy it as much as she did.

The wedding party was a blast. The venue was perfect, and the cake was.... Just.... Heavenly. We all settled down for Natalie and Alex's first dance. I couldn't help but notice my boy- I mean Fiance shed a tear. The crowd of people clapped as the song came to an end. The DJ began to play some songs that I sat and wiggled to. Then a recognizable tune... 'Your song- by Elton John'

"Dance?" Smiled Alex II his hand out lifted.

I grinned back and grabbed his hand. We pulled into one and other and swayed. I let his warmth gently caress my skin. I moved into him and kissed him softly on the lips, we danced on. He beamed and began to sing along

And you can tell everybody,

It may be quite simple but,

I hope you don't mind, I hope you don't mind that I put down in words,
How wonderful life is now you're in the world

He kissed me as the song came to an end. I cherished his feeling then tugged him back to where we sat.

Natalie, the girls and I danced together. It was the time of my life, I had so much fun. Just to know that I would one day be known as Electra Windfield.

Alex II POV
My Palms were sweaty. A mixture of nerves and joy washing over me. I couldn't believe what I was about to do. What if she said no? In front of all of those people... Was I making the right decision? My father put his hand on my shoulder

"Don't worry son," He ushered "Everything is going to go to plan. I mean, how can she say no? You did inherit my devilish good looks after all" He let out a laugh.

I nodded

"Everything will turn out just fine" He patted he on the shoulder before making his way to his place at the service.

When the service had finished I went to find mum. She handed me the bouquet, and I slipped my envelope in between a rose and a bluebell.

"What sort of ring did you get?" She pressed excitedly

" Erm- Rubies and-"

"Sapphires?"

"Yes." I said quite simply.

 "Right" She took a deep breath. She walked to the crowd of women, my Electra included. I almost got lost in love as her face lit up with the envelope.
It was my Que to go. I knelt on the ground in front of her and poured out my heart. There was a slight pause and a silence, the crowd that had formed held their breaths in anticipation.

"YES!"

I breathed out, but was then almost winded by her running into my chest, I picked her up and kissed her sumptuously.
Brittany came to hug me, along with the triplets, they grabbed my legs and hugged me. Brittany told me that she was proud of me,this brought a tear to my eye. I kissed my siblings farewell as I went to dance with my future wife

Never in a million years did I think that I would be in this position right now. Mother always told me that I would find love, but I didn't think, nor she either; it would be her best friend.
